In a pivotal moment advancing the nation’s prosecution landscape, newly-appointed Prosecution Attorneys (PAs) were sworn to office yesterday, 09 December 2024, at the Manila Prince Hotel.
Prosecutor General (PG) Richard Anthony D. Fadullon administered the mass oath-taking of the 114 PAs out of the 121 signed appointments.
Themed "Welcoming Prosecution Attorneys as Champions of DOJ's Vision of Fairness and Truth", top officials of the Department of Justice (DOJ) joined the activity to express their warm appreciation and all-out support for the new members of the DOJ family.
It is also important to recognize that eight out of the 121 new PAs were former support staff members of the DOJ-National Prosecution Service (NPS) who persevered through hard work and committed themselves to become full-fledged lawyers, and now bonafide prosecutors of the Department.
Additionally, the youngest among them is 26 years-old while the oldest is 52 years-old, all traits demonstrating the DOJ's exemplary organizational practice of providing equal opportunity in employment without biases or discrimination.
The 121 newly-appointed PAs shall be assigned to different prosecution offices nationwide to help the DOJ maintain its efficiency in handling cases and attain its ultimate goal of having zero case backlogs as well as ease workload and expedite resolution of cases.
PG Fadullon showcased before the attendees the recent historical accomplishments attained by the DOJ-NPS during the present Bagong Pilipinas government such as the 80-90% increased conviction rating brought upon by key DOJ issuances under the helm of Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” C. Remulla such as Department Circular (DC) 20 or the proactive involvement of prosecutors in case build-up, DC 15 or the 2024 Rules on Preliminary Investigations and Inquest Proceedings, and DC 28 or the Rules on Summary Investigation and Expedited Preliminary Investigation, among others.
"With great pride and honor, I welcome the newest members of our DOJ-NPS who will walk along with us in our continuing quest for justice," PG Fadullon said.
Meanwhile, Secretary Remulla hailed the new PAs, exhorting them to perform excellently.
“Your primordial duty is to render justice to the deserving, by prosecuting the guilty and protecting the innocent. Let us offer no excuse in the pursuit thereof. Together, let us discharge our functions with the highest degree of excellence and utmost fidelity,” the Secretary stressed in his message delivered by Assistant Secretary Randolph A. Pascasio.
