The Department of Justice-Office for Alternative Dispute Resolution (DOJ-OADR) conducted a Stakeholders’ Forum on Online Dispute Resolution at the Century Park Hotel in Malate, Manila last 14 November 2019.
The activity discussed how technology, social media and the internet in general, can be utilized in the conduct of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) to resolve conflicts and to speedily declog congested court dockets.
The event, likewise introduced new mediation processes and arbitration systems which can be used in e-commerce, business conflicts and online trading.
Undersecretary-in-Charge for OADR Markk L. Perete, OADR Executive Director Bernadette C. Ongoco and OADR Training Division OIC Deputy Director Jerome I. Coronel led the activity.
Representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) and other government agencies as well as international and local non-government organizations (NGO) engaged in ADR also graced the event and shared their best practices in the implementation of ADR in the resolution of conflicts.
