Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” C. Remulla said President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.’s total ban of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) reflects the current administration’s firm resolve to effectively and fairly administer justice.
This as President Marcos, in his third State of the Nation Address, instructed the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) to ban all POGO activities effective Monday.
Consequently, President Marcos also ordered the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to provide an alternative livelihood or other feasible sources of income for Filipino workers who will be displaced along the prohibition of POGOs.
At the same time, President Marcos said his administration’s bloodless and holistic anti-illegal drug campaign will remain relentless, focusing more on established and effective anti-illegal drug strategies without the need for extermination or killing.
President Marcos noted that around P44-billion worth of illegal drugs had been confiscated in more than 71,500 drug operations under his term, arresting over 97,000 drug personalities to prove that the “bloodless drug war” is working.
“Once again, the President’s firm resolve to safeguard the rule of law and protect the most vulnerable members of society is crystal clear with his pronouncements and actions,” Sec. Remulla stressed.
“Let us all work together alongside our President in making the nation progressive more than ever,” the Secretary added.
