IACAT Receives 'Friends of Indonesia' Award for Anti-Human Trafficking Initiatives

The Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) was honored with the prestigious “Friends of Indonesia Award” by the Indonesian Embassy during a ceremony held at Dusit Thani, Makati, on September 5, 2024.

This year’s diplomatic reception was a milestone event, marking the first time the “Friends of Indonesia Award” was presented by the Indonesian Embassy in Manila. The award was bestowed upon key partners, including government agencies, media organizations, private sector entities, and other institutions, all of whom have played a significant role in supporting the embassy's mission and strengthening Indonesia-Philippines relations.

Ambassador Widjojo presented the award to Undersecretary Nicholas Felix L. Ty, who represented IACAT. This award celebrates IACAT's unwavering efforts in combating human trafficking, especially in safeguarding Indonesian nationals within the Philippines. The IACAT leadership expressed its gratitude and reaffirmed its commitment to further strengthening partnerships with international allies in the ongoing fight against human trafficking.

The event also served as a platform to further solidify the bilateral relations between Indonesia and the Philippines, with both countries pledging ongoing cooperation in the protection of human rights.
