“An outreach program is an integral part

of our DOJ Volunteer Paralegal Immersion Program.

You cannot graduate from it without organizing one.

We want our paralegals to see the rendition of  justice as one with a social responsibility to give back.”

- Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II

The Office of the Secretary of Justice sponsored the outreach program conducted by twenty-seven (27) volunteer paralegals and staff from the Department of Justice for thirty-four (34) cancer patients at the Philippine General Hospital Cancer Institute (PGHCI) on February 14, 2017.

The outreach program entitled “Give LOVE on Valentine’s Day” was organized in cooperation with Dr. Jorge G. Ignacio, Chairperson of the PGHCI, Helen M. Ayapana, Chief Nurse of PGHCI and administrative staff, April C. Solivan and Christine M. Dahilig.

While interacting with the patients and their folks or significant others, the paralegals distributed fruits, tissue, cotton, alcohol, face mask, soap, pillows and blankets to the patients and medical and administrative staff. In keeping with the spirit Valentine’s Day, the paralegals serenaded all patients with love songs. Additional excess goods were turned over to the staff for distribution for future admissions.

Ever since Secretary of Justice Vitaliano N. Aguirre II assumed office on June 30, 2016, he has spearheaded five outreach programs to different beneficiary institutions.

An outreach program is an integral part of our DOJ Volunteer Paralegal Immersion Program. You cannot graduate from it without organizing one.  We want our paralegals to see the rendition of justice as one with a social responsibility to give back,” said Justice Secretary Aguirre.
