On 13 October 2023, operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested Joemy Gumbay y Baga @Jo, Jonjon Almario y Mujar @Jon, Ysmael Abas y Butocan @Liit, Jonnard Moldez y Diaz @Nards, and Sittie Mariam Gumbay y Balimbingan @Bai at their residence in Unit 308, England Building, Kassel Residences, E. Rodriguez Street, Moonwalk, Parañaque City.

The arrest revolved around a drug sale transaction involving approximately 999.40 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, known as "shabu". Further inspection revealed an additional 8,983.68 grams of shabu in their possession, totaling 9,983.08 grams across ten foil packages.

Following the referral for inquest from PDEA, the Department of Justice (DOJ), via the Office of the Prosecutor General (OPG), indicted all the arrested individuals for:

1.    Violations of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs)
2.    Violations of Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) under R.A. No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

However, charges stemming from Section 12 (possession of drug paraphernalia) and Section 15 (use of dangerous drugs) were dismissed due to lack of merit.

The next course of action involves filing non-bailable criminal charges against the aforementioned persons before the Regional Trial Court of Parañaque City.
